Visualize....

When I say LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE NOW. What does that mean to you?

How do you determine if you are living your best life? By people, places or things? Being at your best does not mean that all your dreams have come true and you have a "perfect life." If you attach being perfect to living your best life…you will be waiting a long time.

What moments are making life hard, easy, mad, sad, glad and/or all the above?

What does being at your best mean, feel like, or look like?

How will you know when you're living your best life?

You get to choose the moments in your day. Maybe you can’t choose your circumstances but you choose what is put into your every day.

My challenge to you this week: With regards to your weightloss, picture yourself living your best life. What size clothes are you wearing? What are you eating? How often are you exercising, what are you doing for your exercise? How are you rewarding yourself for your successes? How are you dealing with difficulties in your life?

I'm sure that there are a lot of excuses floating out there for why someone might be overweight. And I'm also sure I've used some to myself.

I know I have the time to do things right. I know if I don't do things right now, I won't have time later.

In all honesty?

I'm not living my best life. I'm wearing a blubber suit. I would love to get back into a size 8-10 which is the smallest I've ever been. I would love be eating chocolate chip pancakes. I would love for crafting to be my exercise. And I would love to reward myself with lots of sexy husband time.

Right now I'm dealing with difficulties in my life by getting pissed off. Like last night when my husband *accidentally* dumped half a bowl of mushroom soup on me, the couch, and my cross stitch - but personally, I think the getting pissed off was warranted.

I also have sciatica, flat feet, loose tendons and absolutely no urge to lift weights. So the vast majority of exercise is problematic and painful for me.

When you say live your best life, I envision a clean house, all of the clothes in my closet available to be worn, a little more energy and no threat of debilitating sciatic pain lurking on the horizon.

I will achieve this by loyally following the SBD according to the vague suggestion of my doctor 2 years ago.

2 Years ago I followed it faithfully for a long while. I lost a lot of weight (40 lbs) but had no idea I got so "skinny". Then I got married, moved away from friends and family, and started a boring job. I'm sedentary at work and for a while my husband and I comforted ourselves with food. I have twice as much weight to lose this time and Greg, who is always skinny, has gained a few pounds in the tummy and is pretty excited about this diet as well.

I don't feel intimidated by this diet. I just feel tiredly resigned. This is a lifestyle. And it's a shame, because there are so many cupcakes out there that need a home, and my mouth is very philanthropic when it comes to cupcakes.

Thanks Megan. What this tells me is you have an excellent handle on your path through this. Lets take one step at a time.

First. Great reward, cause you can burn lots of calories with sexy husband time if you do it right, and it shouldn't affect your sciatica and flat feet!

Second. Chocolate chip pancakes and Cupcakes are NOT BAD! Eat them. Even though they don't fit into the SBD. See how it goes. If you are feeling fine following the diet to a T. Go to it. But remember no one/no diet it perfect, it's not an excuse, it's a reality. Is something is forbidden, you'll want it that much more.

Third. Resigned is a good place to be. We'll discuss stages of change soon. You nailed it. This IS a lifestyle. Baby steps will lead you to sucess.

I'll look into your barriers to exercise and get back to you. Activity is also a major player.
I like the Wii or DDR idea, but consider renting it from blockbuster to try it out first to see if you like it.

Jenny,
If I gave you 50 pounds of my chub, I have every confidence you could lose it!

Seriously though, I have a great life, but not my best. I'm going to lose 50 lbs. of 10 yr. old kid weight (that's how long I've been dragging it around). I need to increase my activity (does weeding my garden count?) and decrease my carbs to eliminate the afternoon sleepies.

One day, I will give up Diet Coke, but I need it too badly now.

Weight Watchers will be the weapon of choice in defeating the flabby. It has worked wonders for me before (-30lbs) but I fell off the wagon during the stressful wait. That's a lousy excuse, but it's all I've got.

Since I love to cook (and food) I'll have to dust off that WW cookbook and dabble more in my wheat flour baked goods.

As for rewards, I'm treating myself to some spa services at the 10 lb. marks. When I get down to 50; I'll take us both!!!

Thanks Homecky. (HeHe!)
Oooh! Motivation for me too! 50lbs here we go!
I'm happy you have the WW plan, and you know it works.
I firmly believe soda is evil when it comes to weight, so when you are ready to conquer that one let me know, your treadmill will give you all the energy you need.
Cheers on your gotcha day!
